“It’s important to set realistic expectations when incorporating any supplement into a routine”, explains Taylor. As surprising as it may be, research does not support health benefits from antioxidant supplements, per the NCCIH. 

It's important to note that while supplements can be valuable, they work best as part of a holistic approach that includes a balanced diet, regular exercise, and overall self-care. “Consulting with a registered dietitian can help in setting realistic expectations and developing a personalized plan to achieve desired results”, Taylor says.  “Although antioxidant supplements aren't shown to be beneficial to health in high doses, they may be helpful if you have a deficiency”, Taylor says. Before starting any supplement, it's best to talk with a health care provider to be sure it won't interact with any medications you're taking, she advises. Working with a Registered Dietitian that will help you develop a personalized plan, and take into consideration certain factors such as health conditions, potential nutrient deficiencies, and any medications is important.  By working together with experts, you can optimize your approach, unlock your inner glow, and age gracefully.
